What's Coming to the Areopagus Letter
A short announcement on what I'm opening up for paid subscribers
For two years, I have provided the Areopagus Letter for free to anyone who wanted it, and it is going to stay that way. The regular essays will keep flowing.
But I have been wanting to do more than my regular articles, so now I am. I have opened a paid membership, and to start, members get two things I am genuinely excited about.
The first is a monthly deep study. Once a month, I take a single subject, thinker, philosophical position, or Christian doctrine and work it out in greater depth, providing notes, study recommendations, and opportunities to discuss. It is the kind of thing I would normally only put in front of students in a classroom.
Second, I am building a video series that walks through the history of Western philosophy from a Christian worldview. We will begin with the origin of the human race, travel through Athens, explore the medieval cathedrals of thought, make our way to the Frenchmen who started our culture wars in the 1960s, and stretch into the philosophers of our day. It will take time, but it will be a worthwhile journey for all of us. The first episode is in production now, and members get the whole series as it rolls out.
Membership is $6 a month or $60 a year. For those who want to help underwrite the project, there is a Founding Member option at $150. 10% of every membership goes toward training pastors at the tuition-free seminary I started for rural, indigent students in Egbe, Nigeria, called the Institute of Pastoral and Theological Training.
